Emma Gluyas B.A.(Hons) (CTTLS) Artistic Practice

 'Light and Darkness.

One cannot exist without the other.

There is no true Master, without the power of balance'.

Luis Marques

..........

"I am always chasing the light, trying to capture how it spills onto objects, glistens on the sea,

lights up an eye or a face.

Just light, everyday light, buttery lemon and yellow white highlights.
You have to have the darks, the greys, the violet greys, the green greys....

I am a watcher of the dark, using it to bring my paintings to the light.
You cannot have the dark without the light"

Emma Gluyas

Emma is an artist working primarily in oil paint, which is her preferred medium.

Her loose expressive style also includes watercolour and acrylic painting. Emma's works are extremely collectable where she enjoys painting small affordable paintings to large framed pieces.
Inspirations are found in nature, animals, land and seascapes, she also has an interest in portraiture, figures and painting from life.

Always an artist, Emma was encouraged to paint by her dad who was also a painter. Her
parents were extremely supportive in her career motivating her to paint professionally.
Early memories of family life were creative
with Art and 'The Arts' being paramount in her childhood, the whole family enjoyed not only painting but acting, dance and music.

Emma paints every day working from still life, photographs and especially loves painting 'en Plein Air.

In the summer months she likes to work outside and often sketches on holiday, revelling in painting on the beach, in a field, sitting on a bench..... anywhere where she can set up her paints.

" I love painting, I love being outside, putting the two together is paradise!

A summers day, the breeze in my hair, my pochade box, tripod and oils,

thats my favourite kind of day."
