Emma Gluyas B.A.(Hons) (CTTLS)
Artistic Practice

Emma is an artist who works from her home studio primarily in oils, and also enjoys painting in watercolour and acrylics.

Her work includes subjects in nature, land/seascapes and she has an interest in portraiture and figures.

Emma has always been an artist and from an early age was encouraged to paint by her dad who was also a painter. He was accepted into art school but unfortunately could not pursue this as a career and had to work to help support his family. This resonated with Emma and she was determined to make art her career as a tribute to her father. He carried on painting at home and Emma would 'borrow' his paints and try to paint what he was painting. Her father was extremely supportive in Emma's career and encouraged her in making art her job. Her mother was also supportive and loved the arts, especially ballet, opera and theatre.

Emma grew up in a creative family household with art and the arts being paramount in her childhood.

Emma regards her art is her vocation in life and paints every day.

Emma works from still life, photographs and loves painting 'en Plein air. In the summer months she likes to work outside and often sketches on holiday.

"I am inspired by nature, always trying to capture light, colour and a feeling, something beautiful.
I like beautiful things, the sea, a flower in full bloom, an animal portrait. I enjoy running and walking and being outdoors, especially in the summer. I enjoy taking my pochade easel and oil paints out to paint my local surroundings of Warwickshire and even the beach on holiday!"
