Emma Gluyas B.A.(Hons) (CTTLS)
Artistic Practice

Emma paints from her home studio in working in oil, watercolour, and acrylics. She was encouraged to paint by her dad who was also a painter and was accepted into art school. Her mother loved the arts, ballet and the theatre and Emma grew up in a creative family household with art being paramount in her childhood.

Emma's art is her vocation in life where she enjoys working instinctively in various mediums.

"I work in various mediums but not all at once! Preferring an impressionistic style, I am always working on how to loosen up my work with brush strokes, colour theory and painting techniques.

Recently my seascapes have produced an almost semi abstract quality, where I have become interested in movement and atmosphere. Creating a painting that not only has aesthetic appeal but invokes a feeling or memory is what I endeavour to achieve."

Emma has a B.A. (Hons) in Art & Craft Studies from Coventry University and a Teachers Certificate (CTTLS), from Warwick University.

As well as being a working artist she is a Lecturer for Adult Education in Coventry teaching in all disciplines of art. She also provides workshops at various venues in Warwickshire.

"I find teaching so rewarding. Watching my students grow in their own artistic practice gives them confidence in other parts of their lives, it is so amazing and inspiring to see."

Emma also teaches one to one at her home studio in Coventry, West Midlands, UK.

Appointments to visit Emma's studio and see her work or have one to one teaching can be arranged, contact her by email at artyem@hotmail.co.uk.
