Service Description

In this full day workshop in the Garden Room we will be using oil paints and cold wax medium. Cold wax is a medium used with oil paints which creates textures and surfaces that can add interest to an oil painting. In this workshop we will be using cold wax to create a frosty snowy scene with palette knives and other materials. Emma will guide you step by step throughout the day. Oil paints take a while to dry and in this workshop your finished work will be wet. It is advised to carry it home flat in a car or on a seat with a plastic covering. You will be painting on a canvas board, so your work will be lightweight. Oil paints can also be messy, Emma will provide gloves and disposable aprons, you can bring your own if you wish. In this workshop we will also be using safe low odour oil painting mediums, which will be disposed of safely. You will learn How to use oil paint in a safe and effective way Using cold wax medium Use of palette knives Painting on canvas board Oil paint mediums Use of different brushes and equipment to make marks in cold wax Basic drawing and perspective skills Safe disposal of oil painting mediums and low odour thinners You will finish the day with an oil painting ( please see above).
